IPL Photo Rejuvenation
What is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)?
This technology known as photo rejuvenation, changes light into heat energy as it reaches the level of collagen beneath the skin surface.
Intense Pulse Light is a non- invasive solution used to correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such as facial skin imperfections,
photo-aging, small facial veins, redness caused by broken capillaries, birthmarks, rosacea, acne scarring and other blemishes. The areas
that can be treated are: the face, hands, chest and legs.
How is IPL performed?
A cold gel is applied to the area being treated. A topical anesthetic can be applied but is seldom required. The small glass hand piece
is gently applied to the skin's surface and pulses of light are applied. This may create a slight sharp sensation that will only last a
few seconds. Each treatment takes approximately 20 minutes.
How many treatments are required?
The treatment is generally performed in a series of 4-6 sessions.
What are the side effects?
Side effects may include: slight welt formation lasting 24-48 hours, very occasionally bruising, increased redness or brownness to the
treated area which will dissipate over the following weeks after treatment.
How Permanent are the results?
The results are permanent, however the skin changes over time therefore future treatments may be required.
